Aug 13 & 14: General collaboration meeting
Aug 15 & 16: break outs to science WGs and technical group

Venue: California Institute of Technology (Caltech), U.S.A.

=====================================================================
In 2012 March we PFS team have succeeded in the PFS Conceptual Design Review (CoDR), and we both science and technical teams have been workinghard for these three months. We now have only seven months left before next important milestone of the Preliminary Design Review (PDR). In order to summarize CoDR in a concise way with the common understanding among all collaborators, to resolve issues raised there, and to proceed further for the PDR, we will have the 3rd General Collaboration Meeting. This is to be held in Pasadena, California, for the first time outside of Tokyo area.

In this Collaboration Meeting, we will shape the PFS into a real instrument, targeting the PDR (We have actually started already purchasing some components!). This means that we inevitably need to make many important decisions including the final fixing of some essential parameters. For this purpose we need intensive discussion including all science and technical members, since those parameters must be statisfied from both scientific and technical points of view.

Many new participants are also expected particularly since this is the first General Collaboration meeting to be held outside of Tokyo. We really welcome these new people and would like them to understant what is the PFS
( https://sumire.ipmu.jp/en/2652; https://arxiv.org/abs/1206.0737 ), to input their new ideas in time for the PDR, and to join this exciting project. We therefore will try to also include introductory parts as much as possible.
